Whether you want to transport a group of kids with soccer gear and backpacks or numerous orders of widgets for your small business, the new 2010 Ford Transit Connect was designed for you. Coming to dealerships this summer, the Transit Connect is classified as a small cargo van but offers much more. The total cargo space is over 135 cu ft and can be configured to seat up to five passengers with 78 cu ft of cargo space remaining.

Sliding doors on both sides and split door panels in the back make loading and unloading a breeze.  For moms with triple wide, three-deep, double axel strollers the back doors can be equipped with hinges that swing a full 255 degrees.  The Transit Connect also has lots of cleaver storage compartments.  Moms and business owners alike will enjoy stashing juice boxes and garage door openers in the overhead shelf with retaining net which is accessible from both the driver and front passenger seats.

Ford designed the Transit Connect to be fuel efficient and fun to drive. With EPA estimated mpg of 22 city/25 it provides the same fuel efficiency as a large car. It has a 4 speed automatic transmission, a 39 foot curb-to-curb turning radius, power assisted rack-and-pinion steering and can haul up to 1,600 lbs. The Transit Connect is also surprisingly compact. It weighs 1,500 lbs less than a full-size van and is less than 7 feet tall making it easy to maneuver and park.

Office On Wheels

If used for business the Transit Connect is nothing short of an office on wheels. On the outside large panels provide maximum advertising space. On the inside the only thing missing is a coffee maker. Business owners can work from the road with Ford’s in dash computer that utilizes Bluetooth technology for hands free calling, updating sales orders and generating invoices. The complete computer package includes a full size keyboard and wireless inkjet printer. Extra gadgets from Ford Work Solutionstm can be utilized to further customize the Transit Connect such as the Tool Linktm which scans and tracks tools and manages the inventory onboard- perfect for repair and service type businesses.
